Tea silk is a highly valued Chinese silk, known for its luxurious feel, antibacterial properties, and unique dying process. Local craftsmen near the Pearl River Delta use a particular type of yam to dye the silk, which is then repeatedly soaked and dried up to 30 times for deeper shades. After that, the fabric is covered in mud, rinsed and dried to create a black and rust-hued finish.
